Why Choose Equine Assisted Emotional Learning?
Many of the benefits of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning are likely due to the nature of the animal with which the client and specialized treatment team are interacting with. Horses are typically non-judgmental, have no preconceived expectations or motives, and are highly effective at mirroring attitudes and behaviors of the humans with whom they are working. Our equine therapy programs provide an experiential means in which the client can identify and address a range of emotional and behavioral challenges and learn healthy and appropriate skills to address these challenges.

Research on the human-animal interaction indicates that contact with animals and horses significantly reduces physiological anxiety levels. Working therapeutically with horses may also help anxiety sufferers stay present and focused.
-
Horses by nature are a non-judgemental animal and unconditional acceptance which can encourage feelings of connectedness and reduce the feelings of isolation associated with depression.

Horses are extremely good at mirroring the attitudes and behaviors of humans. Interacting closely with the animals allows trauma survivors to reflect and process those painful emotions while also separating themselves from their intensity.
