Grief and Loss Programming
Healing from Grief without words
Equine-assisted therapy offers a unique and holistic approach to supporting individuals through the grieving process, addressing their emotional, social, and physical needs in a supportive and empowering environment.
Emotional expression: Individuals may find it easier to express their feelings and emotions through interactions with horses rather than traditional talk therapy. Horses are non-judgmental and can provide a safe space for participants to explore and express their grief.
Connection and companionship: Building a relationship with a horse can provide a sense of connection and companionship, which can be particularly valuable during times of grief when they may feel isolated or alone.
Mindfulness and presence: Working with horses requires participants to be present in the moment, which can help them to develop mindfulness skills and learn to cope with their grief in a more focused and intentional way.
Self-esteem and confidence: Achieving goals and overcoming challenges in equine-assisted therapy can boost self-esteem and confidence, helping a person to feel more capable and empowered as they navigate their grief journey.
Coping skills: Equine-assisted therapy can teach valuable coping skills such as problem-solving, communication, and emotional regulation, which they can apply to other areas of their lives as they continue to cope with their grief.
Physical activity: Engaging in activities such as grooming, leading, and interacting with horses can provide individuals with physical activity and a connection to nature, which can have positive effects on their overall well-being and mood.
This program is design for individuals who have experienced a loss in the last 5 months or longer.
